
Choi Hyun-Mi is the South Korean Featherweight Boxing Champion. She is known as the Defector – Boxer since she and her family defected from North Korea in 2004, when she was 13. The story is recounted in different ways in the videos below. Their travel from North Korea to South led through China and Vietnam and is the stuff of movies. Now, she is a professional boxer in South Korea and inspired by another movie in Million Dollar Baby. By all counts, she will be on the female boxing scene for some time.
